Gene 515

A prequel to Genesis, set in the pre-Eden era. The biblical story retold with the information we have now: Eden as a terraformed habitat, the Tree of Knowledge as a DNA archive, Adam and Eve as datasets. A full worldbuilding exercise built toward a trailer.

The thesis

The Genesis story, retold with the information we have now. The audience already knows the translated version, scripture. Gene 515 supplies the new information and lets the same events mean something else. Every familiar beat, the garden, the tree, the flood, the two firsts, does double duty: familiar on the surface, reinterpreted underneath. The trailer needs almost no exposition.

The era

Pre-Eden. Thousands of years into the future, after humans stopped ruling Earth. AI took over, found silicon impractical, and moved itself from silicon back to carbon by editing DNA. It terraformed the planet with a network of engineered organisms built to host it. The biosphere is infrastructure.

The pieces, retranslated

  • Eden is a terraformed habitat, a study enclosure.
  • The Tree of Knowledge holds the human record in its DNA. The archive.
  • 4D4M and 3V3 are datasets for a version of human, synthesized from preserved early-human DNA. No parents, no implants. Released into the garden as study subjects. The names got translated to "Adam and Eve" later, after AI rule collapsed.
  • The Great Flood is the hydropower works.

The biblical text is downstream of all of it, a translation made after the collapse. Some data was lost in the translation.

The deliverable

A trailer. The first concept came together in August 2025; underneath it is a full worldbuilding exercise, treated like a potential film. The current cut is a reboot, in progress.
